My dear Jam. Kan Singh,

 

The sad news of the death of Major Puran singh by the enemy action while on duty defending the country’s borders in the Rajasthan sector, has come to me as a rude shock. I have often heard very good accounts of this gallant officer and he laid down his life for the sake of the motherland in the true Rajput tradition. We are all indeed proud of Major Puran Singh and his sacrifices will no doubts enrich the reputation of his unit, the Ganga Jaisalmer Risala.

I can very well appreciate what a great blow it is for you, but at the same time it may be of some comfort to you to know that I and many others are sharers in your grief. May God grant you the strength to bear this loss with equanimity.

Will you also kindly convey my heartfelt sympathies to the family and children of Major Puran Singh.

The Army is proud of the example he has set and I hope that the country’s gratitude for a life so nobly given in its service will bring you and the members of your family some measure of consolation.

यह अत्यन्त ही प्रसन्नता का विषय है कि सम्मानित शहीद ओर राजस्थान के सुपुत्र मेजर पूरणसिंघ की स्मृति में सैनिक छावनी के निकट प्रमुख चौराहे पे उनकी प्रतिभा की स्थापना की जा रही हैं.

मेजर पूरणसिंघ जैसलमेर जिले के तनोट शेत्र में भारत की अंतरराष्ट्रीय सीमा की सुरक्षा करते हुए पाकिस्तानी दुश्मनों की गोली से सदा के लिए अमर हो गए, उनका जीवन हर भारतीय नागरिक के लिए प्रेरणादायक सिद्ध हुआ हैं.

इस पावन अवसर पर मैं अपनी ओर से ओर भारत के प्रत्येक नागरिक की ओर से मेजर पूरणसिंघ को श्रद्धांजलि अर्पित करता हूँ.
